Temporary Procedures for Meetings of Creditors via Zoom

Thursday, September 30, 2021

Starting with section 341 meetings of creditors in Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 cases on December 8, 2021 and thereafter, the Notice of Chapter 7/13 Bankruptcy Case will no longer provide for zoom telephonic appearances as an option. Debtors and their counsel should appear by zoom video for the meetings. Attached are updated procedures for conducting meetings of creditors remotely in the District of Hawaii which reflect this protocol. (Please note that the updated language in the Notice of Chapter 7/13 Bankruptcy Case will also be attached for some cases in which the meeting of creditors is scheduled prior to December 8, 2021.)

If a debtor does not have access to a computer, phone, tablet, or other device with a camera, then the debtor at least one week prior to the scheduled meeting should contact the trustee to request to appear via telephone. The only time debtors will be authorized to appear via telephone is if the trustee provides express authorization upon such a request.
